Goals Achieved?

So now after 3 block workshops, 3 assignments and a heap of readings, discussion and ponderings I am now at the end of this paper. In reflecting back on my goals, on the 4th of March I posted these:

  1. To engage with research and best practice that I can apply to my role as an Across School Lead Teacher in the Tauranga Peninsula CoL
  2. To investigate areas for future study
  3. To pass as part of the requirement for the MEd degree
I certainly feel like I have achieved the first goal. I have shared a number of readings with my fellow Across School teachers in my CoL. For example, here's a comment from another Across School teacher on my sharing of the Knowledge Leadership article (Earl & Hannay, 2011):

Good reading and putting things into perspective. The conclusion summed it up well! Now to action it and be mindful of all included.

I wouldn't have come across those scholarly pieces of work in my normal searching/personal learning network. I feel like the paper has been 'just in time' learning for me instead of 'just in case'.

For my second goal I have had a number of discussion with others including Frances and past MEd students about possibilities. I am know pretty set on completing a thesis with my research question at this stage along the lines of:

How can Communities of Learning best utilise collaborative online tools to accelerate student learning?

For my final goal - well, I've passed the first two assignments. We'll just have to see how this one goes!
